John William Fishwick

Born in 1935 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, he was a miner when he joined the 1st Battalion DLI as a Regular soldier in 1953. He saw active service in both Cyprus and Borneo. After he left the Regular Army in 1969, he served with the Territorials and Army Cadet Force before entering Chelsea Hospital in 2000. John Fishwick died in August 2001, aged 66.
